Bramble Energy
Case Study · Technology · Photography
Four commissions over eighteen months
Real people. Real premises. Real technology. Almost none of it was visible.
The Business
Bramble Energy was developing a pioneering approach to hydrogen fuel cell technology from its UK research, office and production base. New premises, an expanding team, evolving products and important conversations with investors and partners lay ahead.
Inside was a business full of expertise, energy and tangible progress. From the outside were inconsistent portraits, generic imagery and CGI renders that revealed very little of the people, culture or physical technology behind it.
What wasn't coming through
The people were largely invisible.
The engineers, scientists and specialists behind the technology barely appeared in the company’s public presence.
The culture was missing.
A new workplace full of energy, excitement and collaboration, with little visual evidence of what it actually felt like to be there.
Generic imagery could not communicate how the team worked, what the environment felt like or why talented people might want to become part of it.
The technology had no physical presence.
Bramble’s products and prototypes were changing rapidly, but the available CGI renders could not communicate their engineering detail, material quality or physical reality.
For investors and partners being asked to believe in the company’s potential, the technology needed to feel tangible, credible and real.
Making the whole business visible
Over eighteen months we photographed the people, the place and the technology. Bramble commissioned us multiple times as the business evolved.
Eighty people, one standard
Company-Wide Staff Headshots
Over eighty headshots on a single consistent background, working across the website, presentations, internal comms, staff profiles and security ID badges.
Consistency was only part of the job. Most of the team disliked being photographed. Reading each person quickly, creating genuine ease and holding every image to the same high standard is where experience really matters.
One system, two identities
Two teams needed to be immediately recognisable. Their portraits were adapted in Bramble's brand colours, giving each group its own identity within the same visual system.
That flexibility is what turns a set of headshots into something an organisation can genuinely use.
The people and place behind the technology
Alongside the portraits, we photographed Bramble’s people at work throughout the new premises.
We documented engineers and specialists collaborating, developing ideas and working across the offices, laboratory and production spaces. The photography captures the energy, relationships and activity already inside the business. Creating something far more specific and credible than generic stock imagery could ever provide.
Investors and partners could see the real people behind the proposition.
Talent could begin to understand the environment they might join.
The team could see themselves and recognise their own organisation.
Business, Culture and Environment Photography
What CGI can't show
As Bramble's technology evolved, we returned to photograph new prototypes and product lines, keeping the visual library current with what investors, partners and customers were actually being shown.
CGI had communicated the overall form. Our photography gave the technology physical presence, revealing the materials, construction and precision engineering that made it distinctive. We used controlled lighting to create bold, high-end product imagery, from wider compositions showing complete product lines to close details highlighting the complexity and craftsmanship within them.
The result made Bramble’s technology easier to see, understand and believe in, while setting a new benchmark for how its products were presented to investors, partners and customers.
Product, Technology and Detail Photography
Bramble came back four times
April 2023 - Company-wide portraits and workplace photography.
September 2023 - Product photography and new-joiner portraits.
March 2024 - Evolving technology and expanding product range.
September 2024 - New product lines and further new joiners.
What started as an urgent requirement became an ongoing relationship. As the people, premises and technology changed, the photography kept pace.
" It was ASTONISHING to see how EVERYONE had such POSITIVE FEEDBACK"
“Halcyon Visuals has done a fantastic job of elevating Bramble Energy’s visual presence. Their images and ideas really helped shape our brand refresh moving forward giving us a whole new point of view on our brand identity. We were all incredibly impressed by the quality of the photographs, all the culture images, headshots, and product shots were simply fantastic.
All the staff members responded extremely well to their collaborative ethos and effortlessly bringing very different and sometimes awkward people together – no easy task! It was astonishing to see how everyone had such positive feedback about them, the images, and how they worked to make everyone feel so at ease. I’ve never seen that before.
They succeeded in rising to the huge challenge of creating something everyone at Bramble Energy could not only get behind, but be truly proud of. I often get messages complimenting the images on the website, which together with Halcyon’s ongoing support, has really helped us get our message and products out there. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them! ”

What changed
A stronger investor-facing presence.
Bramble was asking investors and partners to believe in an ambitious technology business. The photography gave them more to believe in: the specialists developing it, the premises where the work was happening, and the products themselves. It supported Bramble through a period of successful development-funding activity.
An external presence built from the real business.
The photography became part of Bramble's wider brand refresh, replacing fragmented portraits, generic imagery and CGI with a connected visual language drawn directly from the organisation.
A stronger employer brand, grounded in reality.
Talent could see the engineers and specialists they might work alongside, the environments they would work in and the culture they would join. Recruitment communications had visual evidence to work with rather than corporate messaging.
A team that recognised itself.
Employees responded to both the experience and the result. People saw themselves represented with care and consistency, in work the whole company could stand behind. For a fast-growing organisation, that matters more than it sounds.
A visual library that kept pace with the technology.
Bramble's products did not stand still, so the photography could not either. Three further rounds kept the library current as prototypes developed, product lines changed and new people joined. Bramble could always show what existed now, rather than what existed a year ago.
The result was a visual presence that had finally caught up with the business itself: stronger evidence for investors, a more credible picture for talent, greater pride internally, and a growing library built from the reality of the organisation.
Make what's already strong inside your business visible outside itWhen clients, investors, partners or talent are asked to believe in your business, give them something real to see.
